LAMB OF BEDLAM.  SHORT FILM.

When a heavily-suggestible hypochondriac’s plights are ignored by her deadbeat doctor, she must perform her pain to him in a sado-masochistic freakshow run by the same asylum keeping her sick.

Lamb of Bedlam is a twisted, psychological thriller that explores the psyche of a heavily suggestible hypochondriac, Marjorie. As her cries for help are dismissed by her indifferent doctor, she is forced to perform her pain in a sado-masochistic freakshow, orchestrated by the same asylum that keeps her sick. The film blurs the lines between reality and delusion, immersing viewers in the chaos of Marjorie’s unraveling mind.

This project was both creatively demanding and deeply fulfilling. I collaborated closely with the director, Julian, whose abstract vision challenged us to experiment with story structure in order to translate the film into a story that was easily digestive for an audience and emotionally resonant. Together, we explored numerous narrative and stylistic approaches, drawing from a wide range of references and conducting test screenings to refine the tone and impact.

The work sample provided is from our latest test-screened cut. My primary goal was to immerse the audience in Marjorie’s distorted world, placing the audience in her perspective to evoke a sense of entrapment and psychological disorientation. As we continue the refinement process, I am excited to continue exploring Marjorie’s inner world more intimately, so that I can shape the film’s rhythm until it fully finds its voice.
